Recently, I was demonstrating my Wireless Beehive Monitoring System to a potential reseller. To my horror, I was only getting about a 50 foot range between panStamps! After much gnashing of teeth (in front of a potential customer), I saw the overhead power lines (110 kv, 60hz). Moving away from the lines solved the problem. Best explanation is that the electric field was saturating the receivers??? The mechanism is not important right now.
A signal strength diagnostic would have been very helpful.
Is there an easy way to propagate the RSI and lqi values to an MQTT broker?
I can go into the modem software and add code to, essentially, create dummy register values. Every time Modem receives a register, send it on in the usual way and then create a second message for, say, register 25 that includes the RSI value. I've just doubled the traffic, so I'm looking for a better way.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bob
